Lysos - Argaka - Polis -  21 km walking route

This is a walk that presents walkers many different pictures of Cyprus: A stone-built traditional village, (the edge of) Paphos Forest, cultivated land and coastal views from high altitude as well as close coastal views. Lucky walkers may encounter the elusive moufflon in Paphos Forest.
We recommend to start in Lysos village and explore it, especially if travellers have not been exposed to this kind of Cyprus cultural heritage before. Initially the route descends towards Argaka coast. Much of the first third of the route is in Paphos Forest, and much of it is on the ridge of the mountain, offering great views both towards the west, Polis and Akamas (coast) as well as to the east and the mountains inside Paphos Forest. After reaching the coast at Argaka village, walkers continue on a coastal walk towards Polis, a town in the area, that has a number of medieval churches, an old central quarter, a museum and other attractions.

This walk is great for much of the year, but it is not recommended during the hot season, especially during July and August. For those who would like to explore this area during the hot season, or in any case they prefer a shorter walk, we recommend instead the 9.5 km circular walk that starts in Lysos and reaches Paphos Forest and the north Evretou slope.

Cyprus Walks Etc offers self-guided walking trips, from a number of nearby villages and from Paphos, that mainly include GPS information about the routes and relevant transportation. The route is great, especially for its vistas and its variety. During the hot season we advise instead to do the combo of Adonis and Aphrodite trail, or the Laona villages walk that we offer (and start early). You are welcomed to book with us.
