Rich Cultural heritage
Limassol 'Krassochoria' (wine villages), a historic monastery, a Unesco World Heritage Troodos painted church, other medieval chapels and medieval bridges. This short adventure has a lot to offer to explorers interested in Cyprus's cultural heritage. Adding locally produced wine (especially from indigenous grape varieties) and Cyprus cuisine in the mix, makes the package largely complete. We suggest to loose yourselves in the alleys of at least one of the stone-built villages (eg Vouni) and to sip Cyprus coffee at a local village coffeeshop (and hopefully get a chance to chat with a local elder).
Cultural attractions on (or near) the itinerary include :
1) Picturesque stone-built villages (Omodos, Vouni, Koilani, Potamiou, Mandria)
2) Unesco World Heritage Archangel Michael Painted Church in Pedoulas village
3) Medieval bridges (Milia, Potamiou, two near Koilani and Agia Mavri)
4) A number of chapels (eg medieval Agia Mavri)
5) Two watermills (Kissousa, Pera Pedi)
6) Historic Troodotissa monastery
7) Many wineries on the way (eg Vlassides near Koilani village)
Two days of escooter exploration around forested slopes, vineyards and stone-built villages (with optional walks)
The trip constitutes a two-day exploration on escooter around Troodos forested highlands and in the wine region of Limassol. The trip can be extended for more days to include other excellent attractions of Cyprus, eg Kykkos monastery and Cedar Valley in Paphos Forest.
Natural Beauty, cultural heritage, gastronomy and wine
The trip takes participants through some of the best combinations of nature and cultural heritage on the island. Roads on the forested slopes with great vistas, medieval chapels and a monastery, wine land dotted by picturesque stone built villages and medieval bridges. Participants will get many opportunities for wine tasting as well as for dining in some of the best village restaurants in Cyprus. Interested participants may combine the trip with some walking. Walking on Artemis trail (an easy and flat 7 km circular walking trail, next to steep slopes near the top of Olympus peak) is highly recommended when there is no snow cover (there may be snow cover between January and March). Walking on the Myllomeris Waterfall trail or the Caledonia Waterfall trail is recommended all around the year. During the hot season, the valleys are largely shaded and a trip here (with a possible dip?) can add refreshing adventure to the trip, even in the heat of Cyprus summer.
Pano Platres
Travellers will be staying in Pano Platres, a village high on the south slope of Troodos mountain, that was for many decades and until the 50s a main mountain resort, with British architecture and at some point more than ten hotels. The village is seeing a revival after a long decline and improved tourism infrastructure. Pano Platres offers a fine base inside the forest all year around.

The Day 2 route takes travellers downhill to 'Krassochoria' (wine villages) of Limassol. First it goes close to Myllomeris Waterfall, past Milia medieval bridge and the small Pera Pedi manmade lake. It proceeds to Agia Mavri medieval chapel and ancient huge plane tree, (and close to) two medieval bridges and by local wineries (we recommend at least Vlassides and Agia Mavri wineries) and the villages of Koilani and Vouni. It turns uphill close to Kissousa vilage and watermill, through Potamiou village (close to another medieval bridge) and through Omodos village (loads of cafes, great restaurants, a historic monastery and other attractions). The ascent is via Mandria and Kato Platres villages.
Artemis trail is one of the optional walks in this trip. It is flat, circular, 7 km long and offers excellent vistas, when it is clear, as far as the coast of Limassol as well as Akamas, and other parts of Cyprus. There are other great walking options for the escooter explorer who wants to walk as well (eg short and steep linear Caledonia Waterfalls trail, or flatter linear Persephone trail).

The Day 3 route takes travellers to the top of the island. It passes by 10th century Trooditissa monastery and the village of Prodromos. It (optionally) descends to the village of Pedoulas for those who want to see the Unesco World Heritage small church of Archangel Michail and/or the adjacent icon museum (probably one's batteries would need some recharging here). The route ascends to Prodromos again and continues uphill to Troodos Square (one can sidetrack to Chionistra if they want). It's downhill from here to Pano Platres.
