Self-Guided Walking Trips from Kalopanayiotis village
Kalopanayiotis village is situated on the north slope of Troodos mountains, at an elevation of around 700 meters. It is found on the west slope of the Marathassa Valley, downhill from the villages of Pedoulas and Moutoulas. It is nearly one and a half hour away by car from Nicosia, and a bit more from Limassol and from Paphos. It is a well preserved traditional stone-built village, and boasts medieval bridges, a Unesco World Heritage Troodos painted church, a well preserved watermill, a small manmade lake, a number of other old churches and a modern winery. It used to be a main mountain resort for health treatments because of sulphuring springs there. Staying at the village is highly recommended for those who want to explore authentic Cyprus. There are a number of walking trails around the village, of different length and difficulty level. For those who want to explore some of the best walking experiences on the island, we offer self-guided walking trips from Kalopanayiotis village. For these trips, we provide travellers with relevant GPS files as well and relevant taxi/minibus rides.
