Self-Guided Walking Trips from Lysos
Well preserved traditional stone-built Lysos village, at an elevation of about 550 meters, is found in the north west part of Cyprus, very close to the Paphos Forest, some forty kilometers north (east) of Paphos and nearly fifteen south (east) of Polis. It is relatively remote, with significant variety of habitats and various cultural attractions nearby. Travellers can easily spend a few days in this laid back place, exploring the nearby area, as there are a few different walking routes they can experience (eg towards the Paphos Forest, the Evretou Valley, the Aetofolies Gordge and more). Travellers may even be lucky enough to spot the elusive mouflon that live in their thousands in the adjacent Paphos Forest.
At the same time, Lysos is relatively close to the Akamas peninsula, the playground of Aphrodite, the Greek Goddess of Love and Beauty. For those who want to enrich their experience with a walking trip in Akamas, we offer two self-guided walking trips to the north coast of Akamas. One of them is shorter and for many people is doable also in summer, especially if one starts early. For the trips we provide travellers with GPS files as well and relevant taxi/minibus rides.
