Self-Guided Walking Trips from Paphos

If we were to recommend just one city to visit in Cyprus, that would be Paphos, as here lies one of the three Unesco World Heritage sites on the island, in the form of four different parts. The Roman era mosaics and the Tombs of the Kings are the two found inside the city. The other two are: Aphrodite's Rock (the legendary birthplace of the Greek Goddess of Love and Beauty), some 25 km on the coast towards the east, and Aphrodite's temple at Palaipaphos, nearly 20 km to the east of Paphos.

Paphos, with a population of about 50,000 is found in one of the most exciting regions of Cyprus, a great destination for the explorer who seeks combinations of beautiful nature and cultural attractions. There are many mountains and valleys in the vicinity, rugged coasts and sandy beaches, gorges and artificial lakes. Vineyards and banana plantations both find a home near the city, while medieval churches and monasteries, old bridges and watermills, well preserved traditional villages as well as abandoned villages dot the countryside.  Many sea turtles, and some monk seals visit its waters, while thousands of the elusive endemic mouflon live in the expansive Paphos Forest.

For those who would like a short pleasant walk in Paphos, we highly recommend the coastal walk connecting the Paphos port and Fort to the Tombs of the Kings. For those who want a lot more, we composed a selection of excellent self-guided walking trips from Paphos, many of which can also be experienced in summer, especially if one starts early in the morning.  For the trips, we provide travellers with relevant GPS files as well and relevant taxi/minibus rides. Discover the richness of the Paphos region!
