6h Guided Walk along Xylofagou coast

Service Description

This is an exploration trip along the Xylofagou coast. The trip is offered year round, when walking on the coast is allowed (no military exercises are carried out, we can only know this under two weeks max before the exploration date). Meet/pickup time: 09:15 (unless agreed otherwise). Meet/pickup location : Panagia church near Xylofagou coast /possible free ride from an agreed hotel in or near Larnaca (no port no airport) More info Itinerary : The trip is all about exploring the undeveloped Xylofagou coast. It is largely rocky (limestone) with light beige and at places reddish colours. The walk at many places offers excellent vista towards the sea. As a rule, we walk from Panagia chapel to the Red Cliffs and the Xylofagou medieval watchtower ending back at the church. Usually we do an eight km long walk. The trip is customisable. Especially in hot summer we may make it shorter (and possibly add a dip in the sea). The walk is quite flat with total ascent and total descent no more than 200 meters each. Its cultural components are the church and the conical medieval watchtower (rusting tanks on the way add a surreal feel to the cultural experience). Transportation: None is included in the price. At the same time the guide can give a free ride from a hotel or agreed place in or near Larnaca (no port no airport). The car has a usual private insurance. Guiding time starts when the travellers meet the guide. What's included? Guiding the trip in general and specifically guiding the walks. Exclusions Food & drinks Please note Confirmation will be received at time of booking (possible within max two weeks from Expedition date, not earlier). A maximum of four (4) people per booking. Not recommended for participants with serious medical conditions, for people with walking difficulty or uneasiness with walking close to steep slopes. Travelers can present either a paper or an electronic voucher for this activity. As a rule, unless other arrangements are agreed beforehand, the trip is guided by Phivos, in English. What to bring It is always good to bring along water to trips (though we will have possibilities to buy if required at one of the communities that we pass by/through). Good shoes for walking, or sports sandals are required as well as sun protection, especially during warm seasons. Of course swimming suit, towel (especially if we provide a free ride), possibly slippers, snorkelling equipment if we have time and decide to snorkel.
