Service Description

This is a self-guided 9.5 km walk (3 - 4 hours - without breaks) circular walk around Lysos and Paphos Forest. Pickup times: Pickup Taxi to Lysos: 07:00 (not offered on Sundays as there is no bus from Lysos) More info This is a walk that presents walkers many different pictures of Cyprus: A stone-built traditional village, (the edge of) Paphos Forest, cultivated land and coastal views from high altitude, an open valley, and even surprises like a small church and a small mosque right next to each other. Lucky walkers may encounter the elusive moufflon in Paphos Forest.  Because of its relatively small length of 9.5 km (at an average altitude of 450 meters, cooler than the lowlands), the walk could be fine even in Cyprus hot summer, provided that time (of the day) is managed efficiently (an early start would be highly recommended or even necessary for some people). The walk starts at Lysos village, a good place to explore (after the walk in summer), especially if travellers have not been exposed to this kind of Cyprus cultural heritage before. Much of the first third of the route is in Paphos Forest, and to the north west offers at points views towards Polis and Akamas (coast). It also offers views towards the mountains inside Paphos Forest. The route descends slightly on the north slope of Evretou Valley, offering travellers more views, including views of an abandoned Turkish Cypriot village, and a very special group of a small church and a mosque. For those looking into a longer walk in this beautiful area, we are presented a 21 km walk from Lysos to Argaka to Polis.   Transportation: Private taxi to Lysos at 07:00. It is assummed that travellers will take Bus 640 from Lysos (Mon-Fri at 12:30, Sat at 12:10) back to Polis. Then they would take Bus 645 to Paphos from Polis (almost one per hour every day), after they maybe explore Polis. What's included? One-way Private Taxi on default time from Paphos to Lysos. Not recommended for participants with serious medical conditions or for people with walking difficulty. Travelers can present either a paper or an electronic voucher for this activity. What to take Water is a must. Good shoes (with grip) for walking are necessary, probably some food for a picnic.
