Service Description

This is a self-guided 7.5 km walk (2.5 - 3.5 hours - without breaks) around Akamas north coast. Pickup times: 9:00 in Drousheia - 7:00 in summer More info 7.5 km Aphrodite circular trail is the western of two connected trails near the north coast of Akamas (Adonis is the eastern of the two trails). While we recommend a combination of the two trails, doing Aphrodite circulr trail on its own may be preferred for hot summer, because total ascent would decrease by 100 meters while walkers still experience the best parts of the route. The route is excellent all through the year, including winter, when the place is largely green and full of wildflowers. Cyprus in ancient time was considered to be the birthplace of Aphrodite, the Greek Goddess of love and beauty. Adonis is also a famous legendary figure and was considered to be a man of exceptional beauty, and a figure in various myths. According to legend they regularly met in Akamas. We recommend a clockwise mode for this walking route. The route ascends onto the imposing Moutti Tis Sotiras peak. Walkers enjoy glorious views of the north west coast, and of the north coast, upto Pomos village towards the north east. The descent from the peak (part of Aphrodite trail) is for many walkers a huge highlight of the walk and probably one of the very best walking routes on the island. The last part of the route is on the coastal dirt road, on the cliffs. The walk ends at tiny and mythical Baths of Aphrodite. Transportation: Private one-way taxi from Drousheia address/hotel to the start of the walk. Return is assumed by infrequent public bus combination of one of two buses: First: 622, daily almost every hour until 18:30 and 641 - starts at Polis at 13:45 - doesnot operate on Sundays, or, 648 starts from Polis at 15:00 and 17:00 What's included? What to take Water is a must. Good shoes (with grip) for walking are necessary, probably some food for a picnic.
