Cyprus medieval bridges - in cities, villages and the wilderness
Cyprus amazing, rich cultural heritage also includes a good number of medieval bridges, that are still standing after many centuries since they were built. Some of Cyprus medieval (Venetian?) bridges are found deep inside Paphos Forest, such as Roudias bridge, Kelephos bridge and Elia bridge, others are found near farmland and still others are found inside villages (Stavros bridge in Foini village) or even in cities (Aristos bridge in Potamos Germasogeias). Many are very hard to find.
The map below is presented for indicative purposes and it is not accurate. Accurate information on Cyprus medieval bridges can be found in Phivos Ioannides' book 'Exploring Authentic Cyprus'.
Special mention should probably be made to the medieval bridges inside Paphos Forest (especially to Kelephos bridge, Roudias bridge and Elias bridge). They are on a path that according to tradition was used by camel caravans to transport copper from the mines in the north side of Troodos to Paphos port.
