A 2-day (3 nights) Guided walking and kayaking trip around Cape Greko
This is a two-days three nights single accommodation walking and kayaking programme around beautiful Cape Greko, a tiny national park between the resorts of Agia Napa and Protaras in the south east part of Cyprus. The coast is rocky and the waters are crystal clear. Konnos beach, from where the guided walking trip starts and ends, is one of the island's finest.
The route is offered all year round.
Climate - sea water temperature
Please check the relevant climate and sea water temperature information. During the hot season, many people would find walking on the island uncomfortable. However the fact that the walking route is along the coast means that it is cooler. Also because the length of the walk is not very long it means that it could be managed in summer to avoid much of the hottest time of the day. In summer and autumn the sea water temperatures are higher and those explorers into snorkelling may be blessed with spotting some of the thousands of sea turtles that visit Cyprus during the warm season to feed and reproduce. If we are lucky we may see some while we kayak (especially along the east coast of Cape Greko, if we do that route instead of the default south route). On our usual kayaking route sometimes we spot Monachus monachus seals.

The itinerary (summary)
Day 1 - Arrival to hotel - (if travellers have free time they could explore on their own - no guide in the package)
Day 2 - A circular walk in Cape Greko usually around ten kilometers long
Day 3 - A circular kayaking trip along the south coast of Cape Greko usually upto nine kilometers long (including, subject to regulations at the time of the trip, Ayia Napa Sea Caves and Cape Greco Sea Caves cove)
Day 4 - finish (if travellers have free time they could explore on their own - no guide in the package)
Detailed Itinerary
On Day 1 travellers arrive at the hotel. Those that have free time, may explore the area on their own.Travellers discuss with their guide (usually remotely) and decide on their walk the next day.
On Day 2, walkers usually do the 10 (or so) km long guided walk on the rocky coast. The itinerary (a stretch of it is on Aphrodite trail) starts and finishes at Konnos beach. It goes by major attractions in the area including Agioi Anargyroi chapel (possibly also the nearby cave), Kamara tou Koraka natural arch, Cape Greko rock (with excellent panoramic view from the peak), the group of sea caves of Cape Greko (known as Palathkia 'ie Palaces), as well as the stretch of the coast known as Blue Lagoon. Cape Greko park is a good destination also for birdwatchers, especially during spring migration. |
Day 3 is our guided kayaking day. As this is a private trip, it is customisable. If the sea is calm we usually kayak along the south coast, otherwise along the east coast. In the trip along the south coast we usually start from Ammos tou Kambouri beach and kayak west upto and along the Agia Napa Sea Caves, including Lovers' Bridge, and back.
Depending on time availability and customers preferences, we may be able also to do a go and return trip to Cape Greko Sea Caves complex. Between March 15 and Nov 15 we go very close and possibly enter the caves, but from Nov 15 to March 15 (and for a longer period if a relevant government regulation is in effect) we stay further away because the caves may be used by seals and their puppies. We do not want to disturb them. |
Enjoy the ...ride!
