A 2-day (3 nights) Guided kayaking trip around Cape Greko and along Xylofagou Red Cliffs

This is a two-days three nights single accommodation kayaking programme around Cape Greko coast and Xylofagou coast. Beautiful Cape Greko is a tiny national park between the resorts of Agia Napa and Protaras in the south east part of Cyprus. The Red Cliffs is a stretch of the rugged Xylofagou coast, one of the few undeveloped stretches on the south east coast.
The coast is rocky and the waters are crystal clear. 
​The route is offered all year round.

Climate - sea water temperature
Please check the relevant climate and sea water temperature information. During the hot season, many people would find walking on the island uncomfortable. However the fact that the walking route is along the coast means that it is cooler. Also because the length of the walk is not very long it means that it could be managed in summer to avoid much of the hottest time of the day. In summer and autumn the sea water temperatures are higher and those explorers into snorkelling may be blessed with spotting some of the thousands of sea turtles that visit Cyprus during the warm season to feed and reproduce. If we are lucky we may see some while we kayak (especially along the east coast of Cape Greko, if we do that route instead of one of the two default south routes). On our usual kayaking route east of Ayia Napa sometimes we spot Monachus monachus seals.

​The itinerary (summary)  
Day 1 - Arrival to hotel - (if travellers have free time they could ​explore on their own   - no guide in the package)
Day 2 - A circular kayaking trip along the south coast of Cape Greko usually upto nine kilometers long (including, subject to regulations at the time of the trip, Ayia Napa Sea Caves and Cape Greco Sea Caves cove) 
Day 3 - A circular kayaking trip along Xylofagou coast, approaching from the west, usually reaching just a bit east of the Red Cliffs 
Day 4 - finish (if travellers have free time they could ​explore on their own   - no guide in the package)

Detailed Itinerary

It should be noted that as this is a private trip and the kayaking routes are circular, they are of course customisable. Furthermore, there is a third option for a kayaking route (along the east coast of Cape Greko), which the travellers could do if they prefer, instead of any of the other two kayaking routes. 

On Day 1 travellers arrive at the hotel. Those that have free time, may explore the area on their own.Travellers discuss  with their guide (usually remotely) and decide on their kayaking routes. 
On Day 2 usually we kayak along the south coast, east of Ayia Napa. We start from Ammos tou Kambouri beach and kayak west upto the Agia Napa Sea Caves, including Lovers' Bridge, and back.
Depending on time availability and customers preferences, we may be able also to do a go and return trip to Cape Greko Sea Caves complex.
Between April 1st and Nov 1st we go very close and usually enter the caves, but during the colder season (as per government regulation) we stay further away (to protect seal puppies that are possibly raised there).

​On Day 3 we kayak along one of the undeveloped coastlines of free Cyprus, Xylofagou coast. It is a limestone coast, with high cliffs at many places as well as a number of caves (a few of which can be entered by sea). Usually we do not enter any cave, because the floor of the vast majority is above sea level. There is a small one with two entrances that we may enter if we do a very long version of the route (there are at least two other sea caves there, but one is too narrow to enter while the entrance of another is under the sea surface). At some points along the coast we may see some military installations (of the British bases), but the coast is pretty much pristine. On a hill close to the cliffs there is a medieval Venetian watchtower. The coast is very rugged with almost no vegetation.

Summary of our services
We offer travellers interested in Guided or Self/Guided exploration of our beautiful Cyprus, a menu of services:

• Guiding by an experienced and knowledgable walking and kayaking guide.
• Information on each day's walk/kayaking route
• Access to a light single sit-on-top kayak with the relevant gear and accessories (paddle, personal flotation device, drybag if required).
• Booking of appropriate accommodation on the route, where possible in small, family run establishments.
• Booking of meals, including breakfast, dinner (as per the package) and optionally lunch packs , with a high element of local cuisine, where available.
• Arranging all applicable luggage transport.
• Arranging transfers to location of arrival/departure and other transfers if required.
• On the ground support for the independent walker.

The package
It includes the following:
a) The services of an experienced kayaking guide for two days
b) Use of a light sit-on-top kayak, with the relevant gear (paddle, personal flotation device etc) on the kayaking day trip
c) Information on the kayaking  routes in the form of electronic material (PDF)
d) Transportation. Free rides from/to the hotel on the days of the guided expeditions in our company car (that holds a usual private insurance)
 e) Accommodation as follows:  
  Three nights at a hotel near Cape Greko (they may be different from month to month)
f) Breakfast for all overnights
g) On the ground support​

Notes : 
The package does NOT include transport to accommodation from the airport or to the airport (this can be arranged, at the appropriate fee, if requested. In some cases we may be able to offer free rides to and from the hotel, in our company's car.

BOOKING PROCESS
You may book via phone (or whatsapp or viber) at +35799458366, or email at [email protected]. We will then enquire with the hotel(s) and (provided that there is availability) book (and issue an Invoice to you to pay within a couple of days a deposit if you book way in advance, with the balance a month before the start of the trip, or the full amount if you book within a month of the trip). If the payment is not made within a couple of days, the booking is cancelled. You will be in due coarse receive relevant information with regards to the payment and the trip.

• Day 15 to Day 3 prior to travel date: 50%
• Day 2 prior to Day 1 prior to travel date: 80%
• Day 0 of the trip onward: 100%

TRAVEL INSURANCE
We expect that all users of our services will make all necessary arrangements to, and will for the duration of their trip with us, be covered by adequate insurance related to our services (personal accident, medical expenses, etc).
